We got up at 3:30 am and drove from New Jersey to DC to go to a big rally about sanity. At 8:30, for our second breakfast, we drank mimosas. Later, at the rally, we couldn’t hear anything. For a while we stood next to a clown. Then a tall man. There was a guy in a bear suit. We watched a stage we couldn’t see. After some time, we pushed our way through streets with no cars, only people. And we went to a bar and watched and listened to a tv we could see next to an Irish man from Austin who waxed existential about his crumbling life. We held our fingers up to the bartender and didn’t get served. And the crowd piled into the bar behind us. And Tony Bennet sang and we all applauded.
