Most people at the Guggenheim seemed oblivious to Pinocchio’s tragedy. But I wondered: was it suicide? Murder? Did Geppetto do it? Another thing I couldn’t figure out was whether or not he was lying at the time of death.
I thought this might be difficult for parents to explain to their young children, but then I saw the S&M photography exhibit and realized that Pinocchio’s drowning was the least of their worries.
