We rented a Town and Country for the Old 97s shows in Brooklyn and Philly. We named her the Doreen. She was our “seven-seater tour van.” But there were only six of us. So nobody had to sleep on the floor. We tried to get Murray and Rhett to play Doreen at the Philly show, but they ignored our drunken calls. Nevertheless, that show was the better of the two, and wonderfully sweaty and loud. Brooklyn audiences are so annoyingly hip and disaffected. They didn’t appreciate our boot stomping.

Side-note: Here’s a good lunch-time game: see if you can spot the beer bottle in this photo.
